BRUSSELS - North Atlantic (NATO) will put a missile command center in the U.S. military bases (U.S.), Ramstein, which is located in Germany.
"Central control of NATO missiles will be based at Ramstein Air Base," said one German diplomat, quoted by the Times of Malta, Friday (03/02/2012).
According to sources, the missile command center will be operated on next May, at the same time, NATO also plans to hold a conference in Chicago, USA.
In 2011, NATO announced that Spain would American warships are equipped with missile weapons. Meanwhile, the radar missile was also built in Turkey. Anti-missile weapons will also be built in Romania in 2015.
Because Romania and Poland is a country that is adjacent to Russia. Russia also seemed outraged by the placement of these missiles, even though the U.S. says the missile used to protect NATO member states against Iranian attacks.
German Defense Minister Thomas de Maiziere also not sure of re-issue the command center placement of missiles in Ramstein. But de Maiziere said, Ramstein has an important role after the United States reduced its forces in Europe.
In January, the U.S. announced the withdrawal of its troops in Europe in 2014. So far, 81,000 U.S. troops are still in Europe and half of the total U.S. forces stationed in Germany.
